“The Solarin sports a 5.5-inch 2K display, Snapdragon 810 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage”

Israeli startup Sirin Labs has launched its first smartphone called the Solarin at an event in London today. The phone claims to offer the most advanced privacy technology, and boasts military-grade security encryption, apart from other high-end security features. It is a privacy-first smartphone aimed at the international businessperson who carries a lot of sensitive information but doesn’t want to compromise on usability, quality or design, said the brand.

The pricing for Sirin Labs’ Solarin smartphone starts at 9,500 British Pounds, which roughly translates to $14,000, around Rs 9,25,000. Apart from the military-grade encryption features, the phone sports the hardware of a $200 or $250 smartphone (around Rs 15,000). The phone offers a security switch that when turned on will put the handset in a shielded mode, allowing you to make secure phone calls and send encrypted messages. The device comes with features from third-party companies like mobile security, anti-cyberattack software from Zimperium, and also offers KoolSpin chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption.

“Solarin comes with Zimperium state-of-the-art mobile threat protection that thwarts the broadest array of advanced device, network, and application mobile cyberattacks, without impairing usability or functionality of a top-of-the-range smartphone,” the company explained in its press release.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Sirin Labs Solarin rocks a 5.5-inch 2K display, and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, aided by 4GB of RAM. The phone comes with 128GB of storage, a 23.8MP rear snapper with laser autofocus, an 8MP selfie shooter, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 4,040mAh battery.

The Sirin Labs Solarin also boasts a fingerprint sensor right below the primary camera at the back. The phone will be available on the company’s website in the UK later this month. There’s no word on a global release at the moment.
